Roman Love

Two heads in the manner of classical relief — one behind and above the other, both in profile, hair rendered as rows of carved curls. The surface is worked to look like weathered stone, in cream, sand and rust, so the painting reads as a fragment of carving rather than a portrait.

Signed lower right. Framed in an ornate silver-cream moulding.
